Endometriosis and fibroids are two conditions many women face, but they show up differently.
With endometriosis, tissue that usually lines the inside of the uterus starts growing outside it, like on the ovaries or nearby organs. This can cause intense cramps during periods, pain in the lower back, pain during sex, and sometimes uncomfortable bowel movements or urination. Women might also feel tired, have nausea, or experience heavier-than-usual periods.
Fibroids, however, are non-cancerous growths in the uterus. Symptoms include heavy bleeding, longer periods, a frequent need to pee, and bloating or pressure in the pelvic area. Unlike endometriosis, fibroids don’t always cause intense period pain, but they can cause discomfort, fatigue, and, due to blood loss, even anemia.
Both conditions can disrupt daily life and may impact fertility, so it’s essential not to ignore these symptoms. If you’re experiencing any of these signs, talk to an OB-GYN to get a clear diagnosis and discuss treatment options.
